Loose retainer

Contact the office to have it reattached as soon as possible so as not to disrupt the treatment process.

Retainer wire broke and is poking you

If possible, you can cut the end of the wire if it’s thin (with clean nail clippers). Don’t forget to contact the office for a new wire, or contact the office directly for wire repositioning.

Pain and discomfort

This remains the norm in the days following each reactivation of the appliance. If pain persists, take a paracetamol-type analgesic.

Broken retainer

Call the office immediately to repair the unit as soon as possible. Do not attempt to carry a damaged appliance.

Dental trauma

Any shock should be reported promptly to your orthodontist to ensure that there are no consequences for your teeth or the appliance itself.
